SteamLog is a sauna and cold plunge log for people who lose count of their rounds on the bench. One set is sauna, cold plunge, rest. Hit start and the timer walks through them in order; hit it again to move on early. Leave the phone in the locker if you want, because the timer reads the clock instead of counting ticks, so ten minutes away is ten minutes when you come back. One more tap ends the session and the visit draws itself into a card: date, each set, the temperatures you noted, and the totonou line. The card is the thing you share.
When you end a session the card animates in: the date lands first, then each set fills a slot with its sauna, cold plunge, and rest times, then the temperatures you wrote down, and the totonou line last. About two seconds, and a tap skips ahead. Share it, or tap Done and it goes into the log.
The timer screen shows which set you are on, which phase, and the time remaining, with Pause, Next, and Finish and log. A notification tells you when a phase is up, so the phone can stay in the locker. Close the app, stay in for ten minutes, and ten minutes have gone by when you come back.
The Log tab keeps a month calendar with your visit days marked and the list of visits below it, newest first, each with its sets, total time, and totonou. Tap one to open the card again. The Stats tab counts visits and sets this week and this month, total time, average temperature, and how often you have been back to the same place.
Temperature, totonou, the place you went, a note to yourself: those come after the timer, and only the ones you want. Skip every one and the card still finishes. Went without your phone? Put the number of sets and the times into Log a past sauna and you get the same card, which is also how you can see what the app does on the day you install it.
Most people settle on timings that suit them and stay with them, so the round you just ran can be saved to My Sets: sauna 12 minutes, cold plunge 45 seconds, rest 10 minutes. Give it a name and your next visit starts with one tap. Lengths that show up often in your log get offered to you as well. Nothing here tells you one set is better than another; it only counts how many times you did it that way.
Totonou is the Japanese sauna word for the settled, cleared feeling a round leaves you with, the state that Japanese sauna diaries record after each visit. SteamLog prints it on the card as a line you pick for yourself, on five levels from a little settled to completely melted. It is not a score and not a measurement.
Saunas and cold plunges put a load on the body. If you have a heart condition or high blood pressure, or if you are pregnant, talk to a doctor before using a sauna. Stop right away if you feel dizzy or unwell.
The app makes no network requests at all. The one thing that ever leaves your phone is a card you tapped to share. A Home Screen widget carries your week, how many visits so far and how many weeks you have kept it going, and it sits on the lock screen too. Dark mode, larger text, reduced motion, and screen reader labels follow your phone settings. It is free, with no ads and nothing to buy inside it.
